Yoyos 101
Responsive vs Unresponsive vs Adjustable yoyos
The main difference between a responsive and an unresponsive yoyo is that a responsive yoyo returns to your hand with a simple tug, while an unresponsive yoyo requires a bind to return to your hand. Unresponsive yoyos are considered pro yoyos, while responsive yoyos are more suitable for beginners. An adjustable yoyo can be both responsive or unresponsive, allowing you to learn all the basic tricks while the yoyo is responsive and then change it to unresponsive and start learning more advanced tricks.
Maintenance
All yoyos require some sort of maintenance, whether it is just replacing the strings once in a while or lubricating the bearing and replacing the response pads once every few months.
We recommend the following maintenance for most yoyos:
- Replacing the strings once they start wearing through.
- Lubricating the bearing once it sounds dry or starts making funny noises.
- Replacing the response pads once they start to fall out or when your yoyo doesn’t seem to return properly.
